Well we have a new dog... maybe. It all started this morning while Mel and Kaden were on their morning walk. They saw a cute dog playing in some persons yard. Then all of the sudden the dog ran past Mel and she noticed it did not have a collar. This started a mile and a half chase where Mel was trying to make sure the dog did not get hit by cars. The dog is quite fast and Mel was not able to get very close to it, especially with Kaden (who I'm sure was loving every bit of the chase). Not knowing what to do, Mel tried to reach me on my cell, which was on silent in the bedroom while I was studying for an upcoming exam. After 10 calls, Mel called our neighbor who thankfully came over and notified me that my wife was trying to reach me. I called her and we decided on a game plan, that included some fast dressing, fast driving, and some raw ground beef. With a bit of encouragement we were able to catch the little guy. So we all, including the dog, hopped in the car and drove to the house were Mel originally saw the dog, but no one in the area had ever seen him before. We then decided to take him to the local shelter in case the owner was looking for him. Once we got there we realized that they would not provide any vet care for the dog, and after the mandatory 5 day waiting period we would have to pay $40 to get him back. We were not that impressed with the facilities to say the least... So we decided to take him home and just post a free add in the local news paper notifying that we found a cute Jack Russel Terrier (which is the breed we think he is). Arkansas law states if no one claims the dog after 3 days of adds in the newspaper he's legally ours. After a quick trip to Walmart for a leash and collar we decided to have him checked out by a vet. There we found out he is in pretty good health but has a few fleas. (Continued below)

After the visit to the vet and some anti-biotics we decided to go for a long walk to walmart. He was like a changed dog on the afternoon walk. The vet thinks he is about 3 years old and has a very good temperament, and he's house broken thank goodness. He's on quarantine for a few days while the fleas clear up, but Kaden always similes when he sees him. Haven't given him a name yet, were going to wait at least until the 3 days are up, but we are thinking about Wade (the name of the street Mel first saw him on) or Eddie (after the Frasier dog AND the name of the park Mel chased him for a mile through).
